Alan Langer
Chairman of the Board, President and Chief Executive Officer
Alan Langer is Chairman of the Board, President and Chief Executive Officer of GRO-WELL® Brands, Inc. He was also co-founder of A2 Organics, which was created to consolidate the growing and highly fragmented natural and organic lawn-and-garden products market. From 2001 to 2004, Mr. Langer served as principal in Mahoney Cohen & Company, CPA and P.C., specializing in crisis management and turnarounds, where he advised numerous companies on growth strategies and cost reductions. Prior to 2001, Mr. Langer served for seven years as the Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Vantas, Inc. (f/k/a Alliance National), which ultimately became the largest consolidator of executive office suites in the industry. Vantas, Inc. merged with HQ in 2000, resulting in an equity value in excess of $1 billion. Mr. Langer, a founding partner of Alliance National, helped build the company through 45 acquisitions over three years, increasing the cash flow from less than $1 million to more than $50 million at the time of its sale.
Mr. Langer holds a B.B.A. from Baruch College. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the New York State Society of Public Accountants.
Tim Sellew
Chief Operating Officer; member, Board of Directors
Tim Sellew is Chief Operating Officer, responsible for business development, sales, marketing and distribution for GRO-WELL® Brands. An experienced corporate leader and entrepreneur, Mr. Sellew has dedicated his more than twenty years of experience to developing organic and all-natural solutions to the lawn-and-garden industry. Prior to GRO-WELL® Brands, Mr. Sellew served as President and Chief Executive Officer of Benick Brands, a company specializing in organic landscaping products, home-décor products and de-icing products. There, he built the company from $2 million to $27 million in annual revenue. Immediately after college, Mr. Sellew started EarthGro® and All-Grow. EarthGro® was wildly successful, grew into a $55 million company and was eventually sold to The Scotts Company.
Mr. Sellew has a bachelor’s degree in agricultural economics from Cornell University.
James Porter
Executive Vice President, Operations; member, Board of Directors
As Executive Vice President, James Porter is responsible for managing all plant operations and facilities across GRO-WELL® Brands’ national network of offices. Prior to his current position at GRO-WELL® Brands, Mr. Porter was President and Chief Executive Officer of Western Organics, Inc. There, he built an outstanding and award-winning company based on providing high-quality products customized for individual climates. Now at GRO-WELL® Brands, James is leading the charge to provide “national reach, with localized passion.”
Mr. Porter earned his bachelor’s degree in business management from Northern Arizona University.
David Hancock
Chief Financial Officer; member, Board of Directors
David Hancock is the Chief Financial Officer for GRO-WELL® Brands. In this position, he is responsible for the overall financial well-being of the company and oversees accounting, inventories, cash flow and maintains banking relationships. Mr. Hancock’s career began at Western Organics, where he developed the company’s inventory-tracking systems, integrated three acquisitions and managed revenue growth from $8 million to $30 million.
Mr. Hancock received his bachelor’s degree in accounting from Utah State University.
Dominic Lepore
Vice President and Product Manager; member, Board of Directors
Dominic Lepore is a Vice President and Product Manager for GRO-WELL® Brands. In this role, he is responsible for the winter-products divisions of GRO-WELL® Brands. Mr. Lepore comes to GRO-WELL® Brands from Benick Brands, which he co-founded in 1994. From 1994-1998 he served as president, until the company’s sale. With a mind for business and product development, he was instrumental in developing Benick Brands’ vision and long-range strategies as well as the company’s multi-seasonal product lines and winter divisions—all of which paved the way for Benick Brands’ explosive growth.
At GRO-WELL® Brands, Mr. Lepore continues to develop new and improved patented processes and technologies for the winter-products division.
Mr. Lepore earned his bachelor’s degree in economics from Concordia University.
Donald Ercole
Member, Board of Directors
Donald Ercole is a director of GRO-WELL® Brands, Inc. and a consultant to its Board of Directors. In this capacity, he advises the board and other members of senior management on strategic initiatives, corporate development and financial planning. Mr. Ercole has over 25 years of experience in corporate and investment banking, including financial-advisory services, debt structuring and private placements. Prior to joining the board of GRO-WELL® Brands, Inc., Mr. Ercole was a managing director of leveraged finance for BNP Paribas in New York and London and a Vice President with the Bankers Trust Co. in Los Angeles.
Mr. Ercole received a B.S. from Cornell University in Operations Research and Industrial Engineering and an M.B.A. from the New York University Stern School of Business.
